FISHING CONTEST RULES


-Fish eligible for the ice fishing contest must be caught in Bass Lake, during contest hours of 12:00 -3:00 PM.


-You may enter the contest area to claim a hole anytime after your registration is verified.

 -All registered fish will be immediately released.
 Winning fish will be determined by weight, which will be verified by an official scale. SYAA strives for a 100% healthy release rate.


-All fish must meet DNR requirements for minimum sizes, for example..
Only largemouth or smallmouth bass less than 14" may be kept except one fish may be over 18" with a daily bag limit of 3 in total. Any bass that does not follow the DNR regulations cannot be registered and should not be brought to the registration booth. IT MUST BE IMMEDIATELY RELEASED to help protect the fishery.

 -Contestants are responsible for their own safety, actions and property at all times.


 -Contestants and holes must be in plain view from all sides at all times.  NO SHELTERS WILL BE ALLOWED. 

-Participant tag(s) cannot be transferred and MUST BE VISIBLE on participants.  YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PARTICIPANT TAG PRESENT TO REGISTER A FISH.


-Any tampering with weight or length of fish will automatically disqualify anglers from the contest.


-All fish entered must be brought to the judges stand immediately and alive.  Dead or frozen fish are ineligible.  Judges shall have the right to verify that fish were legally caught. 


-The decision of the judge is final. 


-All prizewinners may be required to take polygraph exams as part of the contest requirements.  In the event deception is detected or the contestant refuses to take the exam, his/her claim to the prize will be forfeited and the prize will be distributed at the discretion of the SYAA board.


-Contestants are responsible for verification of weight of fish at time of weigh in.


-All applicable state and/or federal sales and income taxes are to be paid by the prize winner. 

 

-All fishing regulations for the St. Croix County and the State of Wisconsin will be abided by.  ---Any fish illegally caught will be disqualified.


-Bass Lake WILL be patrolled by DNR Conservation Officers.


-There will be a leader board located in the registration area.  All efforts will be made to keep the board up to date and accurate.


-Should inclement weather cause cancellation on the scheduled date check web-site for details.

-The top 50 place prizes are determined by largest weight and time registered.  In the event of a tie, the first fish registered takes priority. 


-Any legal game fish may be entered in the top 50 carp, bullheads, suckers and other rough fish are not eligible.


-All prizes will be awarded.
  In the event less than 50 fish are registered all remaining prizes will be awarded through random drawing.


-Contestants will be allowed to move to other unoccupied holes in the contest area.


-You are allowed to bring as many poles as desired, but cannot use more than one pole per hole at a time. 


-Contestants must use holes provided and will not be allowed to leave the contest area between 12:00-3:00 p.m.

 

-Any participant leaving the designated area will be disqualified.


-No motorized vehicles are allowed in the contest area other than contest officials and police personnel.  Any contestant bringing a motor vehicle within 30 yards of the contest perimeter will be disqualified,
including ATV's and Snowmobiles.

Please notify parking attendants if handicap parking is needed.  Please ask for assistance.  SYAA would like everyone to enjoy the contest.


-Contestants are required to park in the areas provided.  Watch for signs.
 

-Each person will be allowed to fish one hole per ticket, three holes maximum. You may register as many fish as you want, but only the heaviest fish per contestant will qualify for a competition prize.


-No contestant will be eligible for more than one competition prize.


-All fish must be caught and contestants must be present at the judge’s stand by 3:00 p.m. on the day of the contestant.


-Contestants must fish in the area designated for the contest and will be required to have their participant tag(s) visible at all times. Participant tag checks as well as container inspections will be required.


-Carry-on (food/beverage) is prohibited by registered contestants.   Food and beverage including beer concessions will be sold by SYAA throughout the day.  Thank you for your support.


-Entry fee for the tournament is $30.00 per hole (Adult) and $10.00 per hole (Youth-15 yrs old & younger).


-No refunds will be given out for any reason. 

-Prizes are the responsibility of the winners.  Licensing, registration, transportation, taxes and incidental or consequential expenses incurred are the responsibility of the winners. 


-All raffle winners (pre-registration, 50/50, auger raffle and Bass Lake Raffle) must be present to win. 


-All baitfish must be 4” or smaller. Any baitfish over 4” will not be allowed on the ice.  All baitfish will be checked in.


-Coolers and large containers are discouraged.
 

-No spears allowed. 


-Heaters, chairs, bait pails, and depth finders are allowed.  Underwater cameras or video equipment are not allowed.

  
 -No licenses will be sold on the lake.  


-The use of augers is not allowed (holes will be pre drilled) Ice chisels are allowed. 


-Weighted lines without hooks or bait can be used to check depth prior to 11:45 a.m. 

-There will be a shotgun start at 12:00p.m 


-No lines are allowed in the water from 11:45 to the start of the contest.

-Failure to comply with any contest rules subjects contestants to disqualification and removal from the competition site, as determined by contest officials. 


-Right to refuse to sell and /or revoke a competition ticket to anyone is hereby reserved by the tournament officials. 


-Tournament officials will be the final arbitrars of any disputes.


-St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department representatives will be on site at all times.  ALL illegal activities will be turned over to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department immediately.


-Contest officials retain the right to change or substitute prizes for any reason until the start of the contest.
